For example, generally in the past, to reduce weight, we need to wake up early for long run, jogging or cycling regularly and need to follow some strict diet in our food habits, but at present with the help of diet pills, we can bring our physique under zero size. The neo natal period (1 to 15 days) is called infancy. The birth cry of the baby marks the baby’s first breath. All the babies look similar with a cheese like substance covered his body. The head will be larger than the body. The hair is found all over the body. For the male babies genitals will be larger. For female babies secretion of milk and slight menstrual flow can be seen. The skull is very soft. There are six soft spots there.

The weight of the baby will be 2.5 to 3.5 kg. The size of the baby is decided by maternal diet, economic status of the family and original position of the baby. Length of the baby is about 18 inches and about ÂĽth of the body length is occupied by the head. The legs and arms will be small but the abdominal region will be bulging. The pulse rate will be 130 to 150 beats per minute. Moreover, the crying of the baby will regulate the oxygen intake.

As for digestion, the hunger contract will be more vigorous in babies. Soon after birth the meconium, the black color stool will come out of the baby for 2 to 3 days. 15 to 20 hours of sleeping is a must for new born kids.

The first activities are random, imperfect and un-coordinated. Mass activity includes general movements of the whole body. When sensory stimulant is applied to any part of the body of the newborn motor activities occurs throughout the body of the new born. Specific activity involves one specific parts of the body. It is an involuntary response to a stimulus. It is an uncontrolled reaction. Seventy or more reflexes are present at birth. The papillary and digestive reflexes are all ready to function several months before birth. Heart action, breathing action and sneezing begin at birth.

General responses involve larger portions of the body. Most of these include visual fixation of the light, spontaneous eye movement, shedding tears, feeding responses like sucking, swallowing, and tongue movement, lip movement, sucking fingers, yawning, hiccupping, turning and lifting the head, hand movement, leg movement, and body jerks.

At birth retina has not yet reached its full development. There is no coordination between both eyes. At about thirty days the papillary reflexes has reached its full development. At birth, hearing seems to be at the lowest of development of all sensitivities. Many infants are totally deaf for several hours or days after birth because of the presence of amniotic fluid in the middle ear. Infants react differently to different taste during the first week of life. The reactions to sweet are primarily positive. The infants suck vigorously when sweetened liquid are given

Studies show that the sense of smell is well developed in newborn. Researchers have discovered that infants are able to sense smell more than adults can. Moreover, the sensations of touch, pressure, temperature and pain are present at birth or shortly after birth.
